Where: Smack dab in the middle of Ponyville. And around Ponyville. And maybe a little outside Ponyville too.

It all happened in a flash. Short earthquakes and aftershocks rocked some of the buildings in Ponyville as a magical explosion wreaked its own brand of havoc across Equestria. Once the dust settled, however, the Ponyville ponies realized that there were some newcomers in their midst. Ones that were definitely not there before the explosion. So where did they come from, and how did they get here? Did the explosion bring them here?

Luckily, the actual damage from the earthquakes was minor, and there were no actual downed buildings, just some that were now slightly cracked and in need of repairs.

The natives slowly closed in on the newcomers, warily eyeing them and wondering what their intentions were. But rather than looking angry or upset, they just looked confused and curious. Why not introduce yourselves to them, and to each other?

The official royal welcome wagon might even show up soon!

"Yeah, that's a lot of medicine, we couldn't carry that much!" Exclaimed Serena.

"Oh wow, that's amazing. Don't Elite Four members carry up to six Pokemon?"

“Oui, oui. It was...ah, mon dieu, it was a lot of effort!”

"I'm afraid it's not in my hometown," Jean said. "But I'll try to adjust. Although I hope I can get back soon... I have exams coming up..."

"Then congratulations on your victory, even how belated it is!"

Amelie chuckles.

"Ah, merci beaucoup."

You're all right, baby timeclone. You're all right.

Awww you're going to make her blush!

Future timeclone self was pretty awesome after all.

"I have exams too, but it's been a long time since I've had to worry about them." said Apple, shaking her head. "Circumstances pulled me out of school to another world."

"Mamma mia!"

Let's add another freaked out newcomer to the list. A fairly short and pudgy Earth pony, with brown fur, with a red cap and a... mustache? (Of course, anyone with even a passing familiarity with video games should recognize said cap and mustache on the spot.)

You know, Mario may be used to some pretty weird things, but this is weird even for him.

Pear didn't, but all she saw was a stallion who was in need of help. Gathering up her courage since all of these encounters had been very odd and strange even if it was sometimes good, she smiled and walked up to Mario.

"Hi there," said Pear, waving a hoof. "I'm Pear Butter. Are you in need of help?"

Mario briefly looks to the left and right of him, making sure the approaching pony was talking to him.

"Yeah, where am I and what's-a going on?" His question seems pretty urgent, because, well, Mario figures he was summoned here for a reason.

"Ah, well, as best as I can tell, several of us were summoned here by an exploding machine, and here we are. Some of us from strange locals, and those who weren't ponies were transformed into a species that is native to Equestria." Explained Pear as much as she could.

"There might be more, but even the Princess is in the dark."

"An exploding machine?"... Okay, scratch that "being summoned here for a reason" idea.

Mario lifts one of his hooves up to scratch the side of his head... only to remember that, oh yeah, he doesn't have hands.

"Well, I'm-a Mario." He may as well introduce himself, "And I guess I'm-a one of the outsiders."

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mario." said Pear politely. "I like your mustache by the way. It's well groomed."

"Did you need a tour around these parts? I could show you some of the best places to get food here."

"Grazie!"

(Since he hasn't gotten a chance to look at himself in the mirror, there's definitely a moment of 'Oh good, that's still there', though, really, he shouldn't've been that worried considering everything his mustache has been on in his last adventure... but I digress.)

"A tour would be great! Maybe you could-a show me the best place to get Italian?" ...Wait, do talking ponies even eat Italian?

"I know a good cafe that has some great Italian," replied Pear. "If it's still there that is. I've been... away, from Ponyville for a while."

And italian was noodles. Lots of noodles and sauce. Pear could hear her stomach rumble. Oops. "Sorry, it's like I've not eaten for 10 years."

He chuckles.

"Well, if it's-a not there, we can always figure out something else."

[the_perfect_pear]

"That's true. Let's go and check the place out."

There was a cafe just down the road, and Pear showed Mario to it. The owner gave her a surprised look but was quickly smothered by professionalism as they were shown to a table. "Here," said Pear, showing Mario the menu. "There's no meat dishes since Ponies haven't eaten meat in years, but there's plenty of cheese and pasta dishes."

Mario does end up tripping over his feet on his way to the cafe, but he laughs it off.

"No meat's fine." He'll miss it, sure, but he wouldn't expect ponies to be meat eaters. "I can always have-a mushrooms instead."

"That we can do," said Pear with a grin. "There's plenty to choose from, and there's stuffed mushroom pasta as well."

How weird can it get? Talking ponies everywhere? Pffft. That's nothing. What about that very large dragon sitting in an empty lot, reading a book sized for a pony and occasionally looking around in curiosity at everything going on?

Really at this point, Skyfire had met more new people... er ponies, in a day than he'd met humans in nearly 20 something years. He was feeling a touched overwhelmed to be honest, but he was still curious and wanted to see more.

Dragons are at least something Mario's familiar with, though a dragon reading a comically undersized book? Well, that's a new one.

That said, given Mario's usual track records with dragons, Mario can't help but watch him suspiciously.

Pausing in his reading, Skyfire rubbed one of his eyes with a paw and sighed. Reading was a lot easier before he'd been turned into a real dragon. While this was interesting, it was also a bit worrying... but at least dragons here seemed to eat minerals and metals for the most part, so that was a relief.

While he was giving his eyes a break, he noticed the fact he was being watched. "May I help you?" His voice is curious sounding and he does his best to be non-threatening. He doesn't want to cause any trouble... Princess Celestia had been really kind and he didn't want to make any more work for her.

The dragon being willing to talk does get Mario to put his guard down.

"Uh. It's-a not every day you see a dragon reading a book like that."

Mario does sort of instantly regret what he says the moment it stumbles out of his mouth because it comes across as a little... spacey, to be honest. But whatever, hopefully the dragon really does want to talk.

Skyfire chuckles a little, not upset in the slightest. "Possibly true. Then again, it's not uncommon for me to do so when I can find them... Though I might need to look into some kind of magnifier lens. This body clearly isn't suited for reading such small text."

Mario might think he sounds a bit off, but really, Skyfire couldn't blame him. Getting transported somewhere against their will, shape changed and meeting new beings? That would throw anyone for a loop.

There's a beat, and Mario walks closer to the dragon. (And it's clear that he's still not used to a four legged body.)

"So... are you from around here?"
