A Flash, A Bang, A Flash...bang? An Uninvited Mass Of Mecha Ponies Arrive!

What: SHIT'S GOING DOWN. EVERYONE TO YOUR BATTLE STATIONS. (Or help ponies get away from the mess!)

Warnings: You know you. Also violence. And possibly failed swearing. BUCK THIS CHEAT.

The investigation had been well underway underneath the Canterlot University in the Lab. Unbeknownst to them at the time, the sky in Equestria was darkening - and it wasn't nighttime yet. A loud sound crashes across the sky, and those ponies that would snap to attention looking in the direction it came from would notice that more new arrivals were coming - and they didn't look friendly.

In fact, they didn't look very emotive at all. And when the laser fire and robotic HI-YAHs started flying, the situation became clear - the very metallic ponies were enemies and needed to be stopped.

Get yourself geared up, or help the defenseless ponies to safety so they don't get hurt!

And be careful - more of these 'mecha ponies' keep arriving one wave after the next, in both Canterlot and Ponyville!

Oh, good, Princess Celestia to the rescue! Though, it's quite obvious this isn't the one that appeared to them to welcome them. Another universe's Celestia?

"I don't want to step in, but if I have to, I will!"

There's a small pony standing nearby, fidgeting. "Mmmph, there's too many targets but they're all clustered in the housing area. I can't cast Explosion from here."

See the impracticality, Megumin? And yet she's careful not to meet the fray. "If only a bunch of them would just get outside the town!"

Upon seeing the anxious pony, Celestia walked over and approached her, draping a wing over her.

"If you feel you can't help, there's no point in trying to force it." she said.

"I can help, my spell will just destroy most of the town." said Megumin with a pout.

"Normally I'd just go ahead and cast it, but Starlight will stop feeding me if I do it."

"Destroy most of...?" Celestia said, surprised. "Do you have anything less than that?"

[explosions_are_awesome]

"No," said Megumin firmly. "I don't do any other spells other than Explosion. It's important to me."

Oh, no. A pony like this at a time like this?

"I think I'm going to have to teach you how to control it, then. Explosions are fine, but I don't think town-destroying explosions are needed. Perhaps something smaller...

"I won't accept anything other than the sheer power of Explosion," said Megumin. "But... a smaller explosion but twice the power would be all right. I guess."

[relaxing_with_the_sun]

Celestia let out a small sigh. "If you'll work with me, I'm pretty sure you'll even enjoy smaller and less powerful explosions. Not everything has to be destructive and powerful, you know. You'll frighten other ponies who might want your help."

"Well, I just..." Megumin sighed. "I want to show HER the best Explosion I can do. How can I do that with smaller, less powerful ones?"

"...oh..."

Celestia got the idea now. "If I let you show off your explosion, then will you let me teach you much more effective ones? I don't like to teach violence, but I will help out if it can be practical."

"You'll teach me more Explosions? Okay, deal."

So quick! And yet she sees an opening in the chaos. There's nothing in the way so... "Pardon me."

Holding up her staff, magic began to swirl, an immense power building. "My name is Megumin! Arch wizard of the crimson demons! Power darker than dark, more crimson than the blood that flows. Buried in the sea of time, I stand before thee, incinerate mine enemy! EXPLOSION!"

"Wait!"

And she's quick to put up a barrier that is going to strain the heck out of her!

In the din and the smoking crater left behind, Megumin collapsed to the ground.

"Seven out of ten," she murmured tiredly.

"Oh, child..." Celestia said, sighing. She used her magical telekinesis to life the poor drained pony and lay her on her back.

"Coulda done better if I wasn't pressed for time, the windup counts too." Murmured Megumin tiredly.

"I'll teach you had to do so without any sort of windup." Celestia said.

"Really? Well okay, sounds good." Because Megumin needed that.
