A Flash, A Bang, A Flash...bang? An Uninvited Mass Of Mecha Ponies Arrive!

Warnings: You know you. Also violence. And possibly failed swearing. BUCK THIS CHEAT.

The investigation had been well underway underneath the Canterlot University in the Lab. Unbeknownst to them at the time, the sky in Equestria was darkening - and it wasn't nighttime yet. A loud sound crashes across the sky, and those ponies that would snap to attention looking in the direction it came from would notice that more new arrivals were coming - and they didn't look friendly.

In fact, they didn't look very emotive at all. And when the laser fire and robotic HI-YAHs started flying, the situation became clear - the very metallic ponies were enemies and needed to be stopped.

Get yourself geared up, or help the defenseless ponies to safety so they don't get hurt!

And be careful - more of these 'mecha ponies' keep arriving one wave after the next, in both Canterlot and Ponyville!

"Ma!"

There's your daughter, Pear Butter, right at the forefront of the fighting. Lassoing with her mouth as her back hooves fly into action, she's doing a fine job of fighting the bots off on her own---as if she's done this many times before.

"Let's get back to the farm! We can't let 'em wallop the food supply!"

"Right, let's do that." Applejack looked pretty used to this which worried Pear, but she clanged the frying pan against a bot.

"The others are at the farm right now."

With a heavy thud and a splash of purple energy that sprayed out from the swirl constantly licking around his hooves, the Overlord landed next to Applejack. Wings spread and horn ablaze with crimson light, the flames of his mane drifting away into bats that flickered out as quickly as they appeared, he was the very model of a....

...well, honestly, a ridiculously evil-looking pony, let's be honest. Sombra and Nightmare Moon ain't got much on him.

"The best defense is a good off--" he began, before his gaze caught Pear and he came up short. "Hold on, are you beating up this Foot Clan reject party with a frying pan out of choice, or because you don't have a better weapon?"

"Half choice, half I don't have anything else and a hoe would be too much." Replied Pear in a clipped tone, but she realized this was the boyfriend that Applejack was talking about. "Ah ain't much for fancy weaponry, but a good cast iron frying pan has done wonders for scaring off critters from the farm."

And as she said it, she flipped it into her tail, grabbed it, and bashed a nearby robot. It went down with a loud clang noise.

Applejack was quite busy hog-tying another one, but she had to smile at her ma's ingenuity. And her boyfriend's tendency toward dramatic entrances.

"All right, you two. Mama, this is Zetta. Zetta, this is Mama. We'll get proper acquainted---"

A laser grazed her hat, sawing off a portion. She yelped, rolled, and immediately tackled the perpetrator.

"Real soon! Soon as this feller pays."

Pear winced. "Be careful!" She called out as she smacked another robot with her frying pan. Good thing it was cast iron, or there'd be a large dent in the pan by now.

"The farm's protected for now, the kids are there, and Big Mac bunkered down everypony with Applejack there too. But we should make our way there, to keep them from burning any of the trees."

"Oh, hold on."

Zetta disappeared with a crack again, then reappeared with yet another crack. This time, though, he gripped a large and ominous-looking spiked mace, which he telekinetically offered to Pear. "Seems a damn shame to risk a perfectly good frying pan on trash."

He was not in the least bit worried about Applejack or Pear at all -- Applejack because he knew the mare, Pear because Applejack had to have gotten at least some of it from her.

Also because with a slightly gesture of one hoof, he compressed about half a dozen robots into a sphere three inches in diameter. Sure, they could fight with the best of them, but he wasn't about to let his girl or his girl's mom get hurt.

She took it from Zetta with a oof but hefted it with relative ease. "Not bad," She said with a ironic smile as she bashed another enemy with the frying pan.

"How long have you two been dating?"

"Uh, time gets a little confused when other worlds starts getting involved. How about, 'not long enough?'" Zetta flashed a grin over to Applejack that looked only superficially like his usual smug arrogance. For all that he cared about appearances and proper demonic behavior, he was absolutely terrible at hiding his pure and legitimate delight at Applejack's presence in his life.

"Sounds like quite the match," laughed Pear as she rounded on a nearby robot and clocked it one. "You two will have to tell me how you met."

Applejack giggled and blushed---very much not in line with her image, but she made do with a fond eye-roll and continued her herding. Easy as pie with her family's loving support.

"Well it all started back in another Ponyville, when new ponies were popping in just like---they are now," she sighed, ducking under a mecha-bot. "Things like this didn't happen all that often. And then this one comes along," she laughed, hurling another bot and leaping back to his side. "Thinks he's the king of the ol' castle from day one."

"I can tell," said Pear with a little impish grin. "A strapping stallion like that would think he'd be king of the barnyard. With those powers too and all."

"Hey, I'm the most badass freaking Overlord in the entire cosmos," Zetta said with a snort. "I'm so far above kings and gods they might as well be ants to me. Honestly, I didn't even notice Applejack at first, I was busy trying to conquer that Equestria."

"Really? Well you do seem like the conquering type. But Applejack obviously found your weak spot otherwise you wouldn't be in a relationship with her." Chuckled Pear.

"...well, I sure wasn't the only one," she admitted. It wasn't like her to be so shy about it, and yet.

"Nopony can ignore an Apple forever. Not when there's apple pie at stake."

Pear giggled at that. "Sounds like it. Our pie does bring a lot of stallions to the table. Your father loved it when things came up right."

"Hmph." Zetta batted aside a robot almost casually; one of the pleasures of being him.
"Applejack didn't find my weak spot. She complements all of my strong spots. It isn't weakness to be with a mare like her!"

A lesson Zetta had learned only with great effort.

"Well you're all going to have to come over for dinner then," replied Pear with a smile. "At least then we'll be able to have some good times around the table."
