Where: Smack dab in the middle of Ponyville. And around Ponyville. And maybe a little outside Ponyville too.

It all happened in a flash. Short earthquakes and aftershocks rocked some of the buildings in Ponyville as a magical explosion wreaked its own brand of havoc across Equestria. Once the dust settled, however, the Ponyville ponies realized that there were some newcomers in their midst. Ones that were definitely not there before the explosion. So where did they come from, and how did they get here? Did the explosion bring them here?

Luckily, the actual damage from the earthquakes was minor, and there were no actual downed buildings, just some that were now slightly cracked and in need of repairs.

The natives slowly closed in on the newcomers, warily eyeing them and wondering what their intentions were. But rather than looking angry or upset, they just looked confused and curious. Why not introduce yourselves to them, and to each other?

The official royal welcome wagon might even show up soon!

Sunset Shimmer was as startled as many of the other new ponies, but for a somewhat different reason. She didn't come back through the portal! Princess Twilight didn't summon her, and she sure as a sugarcube wasn't prepared to face Princess Celestia today.

But many of her friends from CHS were here, as she'd found. It was her responsibility to look after them and see to it that everypony was safe and comfortable, and she would do that. It would also help to make a good first impression---the other ponies were sure to hear about her past, so she'd have to try to be the very best she could be.

"Hey there everypony. Good to be back, yeah. Hi!"

But to any of her friends, she'd say:

"Hey, girls! We should probably discuss where you're going to sleep."

[emet_selch]

...oh my gosh they even called each other everybody instead of everyone. Was this... some form of afterlife? Don't mind the unicorn bounding up, before pausing. "You've been to this realm before?"

Haurchefant has to catch himself. Can't... call it a shard, just in case it isn't.

[burningbrighter]

"Yeah," Sunset explained, putting on her best smile. "This is Equestria. I'm a native...sort of. Mostly. It's a little weird until you get used to it, but most ponies are friendly if you're friendly to them."

Unlike certain ponies she knew and sometimes looked at in the mirror.

[emet_selch]

"...Sort-of?" Haurchefant asked, trying not to grin too much. It might be a sore subject - but he shakes his own head. "I'd hope they were friendly - I've enough of places which aren't, except to their most beloved."

[burningbrighter]

"Yeah. I was born here, but I left for another world and became human a few years ago. Now I'm back, or so it seems."

She laughed. "So long as you don't go around hurting people or threatening to, you'll be fine. It's easy."

[emet_selch]

...Hm. "And here I thought it was only some who could alter their form."

Haurchefant stop being mysterious. But he beams. "You'd think me an enemy? No, I'm a knight. My name is Haurchefant."

[usedpartycannon]

"Can we have bunk beds?" asked Pinkie, bouncing in place like a tigger. It seemed that Pinkie had adjusted well to the cartoon physics of the world, and was even more of a spastic amount of energy.

"I get top bunk!"

[burningbrighter]

How was she jumping that high? Sunset wasn't about to question it.

"Sure! Let's just make sure somepony tough is on the bottom bunk...if nopony else volunteers, I will?"

[usedpartycannon]

"Great! We can be BUNK BUDDIES!" Have a squeaky toy hug Sunset.

"Hey you look good. GASP. You're naked! Wait, I'm naked! Does that mean Equestria a nudist colony?"

[burningbrighter]

"We're bunkies, then!"

Sunset accepted the hug with a cheery laugh, but...uh. She pulled back to give Pinkie an amused look.

"Not exactly. Ponies don't really need to wear clothes the way humans do. But you can wear clothes if you want! We have fancy saddles, coats, hats, dresses...actually, I think Princess Twilight told me once that her Rarity owns her own boutique in town.

[usedpartycannon]

"Oooo-OoooO-Oooh! I wonder if we can bum some of her clothing. But sure I'll pay for it later." said Pinkie.

"But hey, this is cool too. Freeeee Flooooowwwwwwwing~!"

[madtwience]

"Sure. What do you have in mind?" She was still stumbling around a bit, but Twilight was beginning to get her bearings in this new world. ... A little. "I'm good with anything. I've even slept on the floor before, if it comes to that."

[burningbrighter]

"Small cottage with bunks crammed into it," Sunset shrugged. "We're not going to make you sleep on the floor, okay? Equestria's nicer than that. And makeshift beds are pretty easy to make for a pony. If there's a hay bale, I'm taking it."

She grinned. "We'll make sure you get a comfortable spot. I've heard it can be tricky to sleep with wings if you're not used to them."

[madtwience]

"I'd be okay either way," she assured her. "I mean, as long as I can sleep, I'm not too worried about where."

Her wings popped out, as if on cue when Sunset told her about the difficulties of that. "Oh... I didn't think about that. I haven't even tried flying yet!"

[burningbrighter]

Sunset had to smile at that. "I'd definitely teach you magic if you had a horn, but I think this will have to be Rainbow and Fluttershy's job. Don't worry, they'll make sure you're safe!"

Her eyes sparkled. "Flying's pretty cool. You'll have to tell me what it's like."

[madtwience]

"Yeah... I kinda had hoped that if this came up, I'd get a horn so I could do magic." A beat. "...But it's okay! I can still study magic, even if I can't cast it. And maybe flying will end up being more useful to me for getting around quicker."

Unless Unicorns had teleportation magic... but well, beggars can't be choosers, and she couldn't deny that the prospect of flying was pretty awesome... and terrifying to consider.

[goalriff]

Sleep had occurred to this one.

"One of those top bunks has my name on it." Have a grin.

"What do ponies eat for food anyway?"

[burningbrighter]

"We're vegetarians, obviously. But it's not all grass and oats! We like those, yes, but we also have sandwiches, salads, breads, and pastries. Our chefs and bakers really put their hearts into it."

She tipped her head to the side. "Why, hungry?"

[goalriff]

"What kind of sandwiches are we talking?" She's looks both confused and interested.

[burningbrighter]

"Oats and grass, mostly, but we can add eggs and any kind of vegetable and spice you want," Sunset smiled. "Trust me. You'll like it."

[goalriff]

"Lead the way, Sunset." She is pretty hungry. "What about drinks?"

[shiningkindness]

"Where...? Oh...that's probably a good idea."

Fluttershy hadn't even thought about that, having been preoccupied with trying not to freak out about all this.

"Is there a place we'd be able to stay for a while?"

[burningbrighter]

Sunset thought for a little while, glancing all around. And then...

"Hmm. I don't know Ponyville too well, I mostly lived in Canterlot, but I think there are a few huts we can fix up. They'll let us stay."

[shiningkindness]

"W-Well...okay. I hope we're not too much of an inconvenience, though. With so many of us here, I'd hate to cause any trouble."

[burningbrighter]

"Don't worry! They'll help us find away. So long as we pitch in, it'll all be fine."
