It's taken her the better part of a month to set up the transportation network, but Amelie finally has her hoops in pretty much every major city of Equestria now. She takes a moment to drop a message over the mirrors before finishing her preparations and stepping through a hoop to the center of town.

"Bonjour! This is Amelie; I was wondering if anyone wanted to join me for a little trip? I'll be going to various places using my portal hoops to sample the local cuisine; if anyone wants to join me I'll be in the center of town for the next half hour before I leave!"

Amelie is very much looking forward to spending an entire day traveling and eating, and that excitement is expressed quite clearly in her body language as she waits for anyone to show up.

"More ravioli?" exclaimed Megumin as her stomach protested. "I think we're really going to be crushed at this rate."

"I don't think Applejack could manage this level of decadency," said Twilight faintly.

[onaroll]

"If I knew he was planning on this one I'd have ordered something else for us at the last stop..."

Amelie sounds faintly stunned, but she shrugs it off and begins cutting wedges of ravioli for everyone. As she does, there's another delivery, although this one is just a bottle of white wine, compliments of the co-owner Bucket List.

[cidery]

"That's fine, we'll just work on this together then," said Apple as she undid the cork on the white wine and poured glasses for everyone.

"It seems that we're getting the highest treatment, what did you two do to earn his trust?" asked Twilight.

[onaroll]

"Ah...we protected the restaurant when the robots attacked."

Hmm.

"Oh, right, didn't one of them aim at Bucket List? Oui, oui...and after I dropped it through a hoop Apple smashed it, I am pretty sure."

[horse_nerd]

"So you two are basically heroes to them," said Twilight with a smile.

[onaroll]

Amelie manages to suppress the instinctive flinch at being called a 'hero', but she has no doubt that Apple caught it anyway.

Well, she's at least a good enough actress to fool Megumin and Twilight, at least.

"Heroes go up on a pedestal; they're our friends."

[explosions_are_awesome]

"That makes more sense, friends reward you for being friends," said Megumin with a smile.

Apple did catch it, and simply rested her hoof on Amelie's for a moment.

“Friendship is a really strong magic, honestly.”

Amelie takes comfort from Apple’s contact and smiles a little as she continues speaking.

“For Gems like us, literally. Maybe someday we can show you.”

"It is. It's the glue that holds ponies together too," added Twilight as Megumin tilted her head.

"Some kind of secret Gem power?" asked Megumin curiously.

[onaroll]

“It’s not really a secret, but it hasn’t come up yet so we decided it should be a surprise.”

[explosions_are_awesome]

"Ah okay. I'll see it when it happens then," said Megumin, satisfied as she ate her ravioli and sipped her wine.

[onaroll]

Feeling experimental, Amelie pours some of the sauce from the ravioli onto her croquette and nibbles.

As she’s busy with this unexpectedly tasty flavor combination, yet another dish arrives - a tureen of soup containing whole corn kernels floating in a clear, slightly golden broth. Amelie swallows her food, looks at the soup, and proceeds to explain.

“Corn soup! The stock is made by boiling corn cobs in a pressure cooker - I picked up the corn from Dodge Junction.”

"Corn!" Exclaimed Twilight happily. "I love corn!"

Ladling out the soup to everyone, Twilight inhaled and sighed. "I love the smell of corn, the texture, it makes up one of our biggest exports too!"

“One thing I couldn’t get in Waverly Bay or Kalos was corn juice. Papa and I used to drink it while watching movies on his days off...”

Amelie appears to have fond memories of corn as well.

[horse_nerd]

"Corn juice? I can get you that," said Twilight. "My favorite convenience store has some!"

[onaroll]

“Maybe in a few days, then!”

[horse_nerd]

"Good good!" Exclaimed Twilight as she sipped her food and finished her slab of ravioli. "Ooogh, the cheese..."

[onaroll]

Amelie's still not entirely sure why you have a morbid fear of cheese but hey, Twilight, you do you. Amelie has to deal with a maid that is either a robot assassin or just really dedicated to LARPing a robot assassin; she's seen weirder.

Also, yes, she's finished her ravioli slab as well, time for soup.

It's just so cheesy...

Soup is good though, it's a pallet cleanser, and she's enjoying the broth, as well as Megumin and Apple.

It is a good soup! Amelie's glad she's had a part in making this food - although not literally, this place would have burned down.

This is when the hummus arrives, and for some reason Amelie just starts glowing as soon as she sees it.

"Apple, Apple! Look! Hummus!"

[cidery]

Apple clasped her hooves in glee. "Hummus!" She paused. "What's hummus?"

She never had hummus before...

[onaroll]

Well this is a travesty that must not stand! Amelie is very quick to scoop up some hummus with the still-warm pita bread and presents it to Apple.

"Ahhh~"

Amelie is confident that once you taste this, Apple, you will understand just how much she is willing to sacrifice for you.

Apple took a bite of the hummus and pita bread, and she lets out a delighted noise. "Oh goodness this is so good!" She exclaimed.

Taking their own bites, Megumin and Twilight had to agree. "This is probably my favorite dish right now," said Megumin.

[onaroll]

"Right?"

If you were to ask her why she is so hype for hummus Amelie herself would not be able to tell you, but that doesn't mean it's not her favorite part of the meal so far.

"The taste is creamy and what's it made of?" asked Megumin curiously.
