Where: Smack dab in the middle of Ponyville. And around Ponyville. And maybe a little outside Ponyville too.

It all happened in a flash. Short earthquakes and aftershocks rocked some of the buildings in Ponyville as a magical explosion wreaked its own brand of havoc across Equestria. Once the dust settled, however, the Ponyville ponies realized that there were some newcomers in their midst. Ones that were definitely not there before the explosion. So where did they come from, and how did they get here? Did the explosion bring them here?

Luckily, the actual damage from the earthquakes was minor, and there were no actual downed buildings, just some that were now slightly cracked and in need of repairs.

The natives slowly closed in on the newcomers, warily eyeing them and wondering what their intentions were. But rather than looking angry or upset, they just looked confused and curious. Why not introduce yourselves to them, and to each other?

The official royal welcome wagon might even show up soon!

“That does happen, oui. Maman is Grace the Rhyhorn racer, right?”

"Yes, she is! That's one thing that seems similar. Who did you travel with? I traveled with Ash, a trainer from Pallet Town in Kanto, and two friends, Clemont and his sister Bonnie."

She won't talk about the void, she's not Dawn!

[onaroll]

“Lumiose’s Gym Leader? Ah...he is a pleasant enough fellow, I suppose...”

Hmm.

“I traveled with...ah. Calem, Shauna, Trevor, and Tierno.”

Nod nod.

[never_give_up]

"Oh I know them! They're good people. We met up a few towns over near the beginning of my journey with the others." said Serena with a nod.

"He's always going on about the Future is Now thanks to Science. And then his devices blow up on him without fail." She shrugged. "I've grown to get used to that."

[onaroll]

Alright, time to address something else.

“Ah...how old are you, exactly?”

[never_give_up]

"I'm twelve," replied Serena. "Turning thirteen this year. Kids in Kalos are allowed out as trainers as early as 10, but I had no desire to do so until twelve." She looked a little abashed.

[onaroll]

“I was fifteen before I got a Pokemon. I’m eighteen now.”

You started sooner than she did.

[never_give_up]

"Wow, so there's about a 6 year difference between us. That explains why your voice is a little more mature than mine," said Serena with a nod.

"But I'm glad there's more people out there that know what Pokemon are. I'd be worried if everyone didn't."

[onaroll]

Nod nod.

“I get so tired of having to explain Pokemon to everyone I meet.”

"I imagine it must be tough," admitted Serena. "Everyone knows what Pokemon are back home so it's one of those for granted things."

"So um, you said something about a gem right? What's that about?"

[onaroll]

Amelie raises her right foreleg, showing off the pink diamond embedded in it just above her hoof.

“Here it is.”

"Oh wow it's so pretty! Wait, it's in your hoof? How? Doesn't that hurt?" asked Serena, going from surprised to concerned in a moment.

[onaroll]

“Not really?”

Amelie sounds contemplative.

“I mean, the gem itself is my actual body, the rest of me is just a hologram it projects.”

[never_give_up]

"Oh wow..." She had no idea how that worked but... "It sounds like quite the story to be honest. Is it?"

[onaroll]

“Action! Adventure! Romance! It’d be a blockbuster over in Unova, I’m sure.”

Her expression goes fondly distant at the mention of ‘romance’ and doesn’t quite go back when she continues speaking.

"I'm sure it would be!" Oh she sees that expression. It's the same expression she got when thinking of Ash.

"It must be an exciting time, to live your life I'm guessing."

[onaroll]

“Ah? Why are you talking like your life is going to be any less lively than mine?”

Smile smile.

“You’re a little filly in a parallel world, things are going to be different for you now too!”

[never_give_up]

"Ah well... I'm just here without my friends so I was worried about finding my way around. I mean, I have Fennelkin with me."

She had her Pokeball in hoof as she released her friend who looked at her curiously. "Fennelkin it's me, Serena!"

Fennelkin nodded and then turned to Amelie, curious tilting of its head.

[onaroll]

Blink blink.

“Bonjour. I am Amelie, a version of your Trainer from a parallel dimension.”

A slight pause before she addresses Serena.

“Pardonne, I find myself a little taken aback. I had expected that you would have chosen a Chespin as I did.”

[never_give_up]

Fennelkin nodded and curtseyed at Amelie before giving the older unicorn a hug.

"Yeah, I was thinking about Chespin initially but I had my heart set on Fennelkin to be honest."

[onaroll]

“What other Pokemon are on your team? The team that made me the Champion was Chesnaught, Talonflame, Aegislash, Tyrantrum, Aurorus, and Goodra.”

[never_give_up]

"Just Fennelkin, Sylveon and Pancham. We don't have much of a track record in getting Pokemon partners."

Wait.

"Aurorus? But they went extinct years ago! The only surviving ones are the ones in the lab and they can't survive outside of cold weather. How...?"

[onaroll]

Blink blink.

“I had a fossil revived?”

Like you do.

[never_give_up]

"Well yes, but... the cold environments?" Said Serena weakly. "I should know, I had to save a Amaura from Team Rocket and... wow, that's a huge difference. The only ones that can survive in Kalos now are in a temperature controlled area."

[onaroll]

...wait what.

“Team Rocket? The defunct Kanto crime syndicate?”
