Where: Equestria

It's taken her the better part of a month to set up the transportation network, but Amelie finally has her hoops in pretty much every major city of Equestria now. She takes a moment to drop a message over the mirrors before finishing her preparations and stepping through a hoop to the center of town.

"Bonjour! This is Amelie; I was wondering if anyone wanted to join me for a little trip? I'll be going to various places using my portal hoops to sample the local cuisine; if anyone wants to join me I'll be in the center of town for the next half hour before I leave!"

Amelie is very much looking forward to spending an entire day traveling and eating, and that excitement is expressed quite clearly in her body language as she waits for anyone to show up.

"Right? The crunchy coating is nice, too!"

[horse_nerd]

"It's really cheesy," said Twilight, chewing thoughtfully. "Normally I'm not a fan of too much cheese but it's not overbearing like in a quesadilla. I like it!"

[onaroll]

Amelie dunks one of the ravioli in the dipping sauce and nibbles thoughtfully.

"I think there might be some red pepper in here, as well? It cuts through the richness of the cheese nicely."

[horse_nerd]

"That would explain it," said Twilight, dunking a fresh ravioli into the sauce. "If it was straight cheese, I'd be put off. But this is a nice blend."

[onaroll]

Amelie nods and hums thoughtfully as she finishes her cider. Turning around slightly, she calls over to the bartender.

“Ah, could I get an Old Fashioned?”

[cidery]

"Old Fashioned?" asked Apple as the drink came.

"Oh that looks interesting," she added, gazing at the drink thoughtfully.

[onaroll]

Amelie tales a sip, smiles, and offers the glass to Apple.

[cidery]

Apple took a sip and made a appreciative noise. "Oh this is good. What's in it?"

[onaroll]

“You muddle sugar with bitters, add brandy, and then citrus peel.”

Brandy is made from wine, so of course Amelie enjoys it.

[cidery]

"It's a good taste," said Apple as Megumin looked over, chewing on her food.

"Is it too strong for me you think? Darkness wouldn't let me have any wine."

[onaroll]

"Brandy's pretty potent, honestly. Given what you've said before, I think it's something like six times stronger that what you're used to?"

Amelie pauses to take another sip.

"That's at minimum, mind. High end is about ten times that."

She's not saying you can't, honestly, she's just letting you know what to expect.

[explosions_are_awesome]

"Wow, sounds strong. Like the stuff they brew in barns or something." said Megumin, making a face.

"I think you should stick to hard cider then," said Twilight and she nodded.

[onaroll]

"It is good cider! I just ordered this because I love things with citrus in them."

[horse_nerd]

"Fair enough," replied Megumin, taking a sip of her cider and then finishing another two ravioli. "This is still good though."

"I may decide to have something similar," said Twilight thoughtfully. "I wonder if they have Applejack's Midnight Brand."

[onaroll]

"You can ask? Nothing to say they will, though."

Well, their next stop might, but since Apple missed that part of the discussion Amelie doesn't want to push her luck.

[horse_nerd]

"All right." Waving down the bartender, a cup of Midnight Brand appeared poured by the smiling bartender, and Twilight smiled.

"This is the stuff even Applebloom isn't allowed to handle. It's been in the Apple family for generations and aged 20 years before a single bottle is allowed out."

[onaroll]

"...isn't Applebloom, like...ten?"

Please do not give a ten year old alcohol, Twilight

[horse_nerd]

"Huh? Of course she is!" Oh wait, that did come out wrong.

"I meant she's not allowed to help make it until she's at least twenty. My bad."

Sheepish sluck.

[onaroll]

"It's fine, it happens all the time."

It really does.

[explosions_are_awesome]

Megumin stifled a grin and went for another ravioli. "I'm gonna finish this plate," she said with a satisfied statement.

[onaroll]

"I'm fine with that."

There's a pause as Amelie opens up a hoop, pulls a watch on a chain out, and checks the time.

"We went through these faster than I expected; we actually have a little extra time before our next stop."

[cidery]

"Probably a good idea to go to a park and rest for a few minutes then," said Apple. "For the sake of our two friends who won't be able to consume as much as we do."

[onaroll]

"That is a good idea. Ah, give me a second..."

Amelie puts the watch back in the hoop, but before she can close it down a head pops through, followed shortly afterwards by the rest of Joyuese's body. Amelie blinks a few times as Joyuese perches on her back.

"...you heard Apple say 'park', didn't you."

Joyuese nods in agreement.

[horse_nerd]

"Well, why not?" said Apple as Megumin and Twilight nodded.

"We can't keep up with you, well, at least not me," replied Twilight. "So we'll need a bit of time to rest."

[onaroll]

"Really?"

Amelie looks thoughtful at that.

"I thought this was a normal amount of energy to put into doing something you love...Apple's always been able to keep up with me at this level, after all."

Wait, by her own admission, this is the first time she's been able to do this kind of gourmet tour in a long time...oh. Ohhh. Annnnd there's all the wine she's been drinking since brunch kicking in.
