It's taken her the better part of a month to set up the transportation network, but Amelie finally has her hoops in pretty much every major city of Equestria now. She takes a moment to drop a message over the mirrors before finishing her preparations and stepping through a hoop to the center of town.

"Bonjour! This is Amelie; I was wondering if anyone wanted to join me for a little trip? I'll be going to various places using my portal hoops to sample the local cuisine; if anyone wants to join me I'll be in the center of town for the next half hour before I leave!"

Amelie is very much looking forward to spending an entire day traveling and eating, and that excitement is expressed quite clearly in her body language as she waits for anyone to show up.

Even with pink fur, it is startlingly obvious when Amelie blushes. She coughs a few times, trying to pretend she isn't tomato-red, and continues speaking.

"Well, honestly, Kalos has kind of an unusual structure nobility-wise. We technically have a king? But Az is, like...immortal and spent three thousand years living like a hobo so I'm not sure he has any authority left. And if you want a title, all you really need is someone at Marquis or higher to vouch for you to become a Baron, and from there you can just advance in rank by winning duels."

There's a pause as she samples the melon salad, her eyes closing as she sighs in pleasure at the flavor.

"I'm a Grand Duchess because I personally defeated...pretty much everyone in Kalos in a duel? None of it means as much to me as being Apple's fiancee, though."

[explosions_are_awesome]

"I can't really say I know much about the government system in my world, other than it's terrible." said Megumin, stirring her drink with a straw. "Other than the nobles are unfair and abuse their power. We've got a king but his land is threatened by the Demon King."

She nipped at her salad and made a pleased noise.

"So there's no peace?" asked Apple curiously.

"Not really, some of it is peaceful, but it's a hard, brutal life." said Megumin.

[onaroll]

That explains so much.

But before that particular rabbit hole can be plumbed any deeper, the waiter trots up and deposits the Eggs Sardou with pomp and flourish.

[cidery]

It does. Apple decides to abscond Megumin to Ever After or wherever she and Amelie settle down in.

"Oh good, the Eggs Sardou is here!" Exclaimed Apple. "Mmm, looks delicious!"

[onaroll]

It looks amazing, Amelie is so glad she found this place. Taking her spoon, she tastes the hollandaise sauce poured over the egg.

"Oh, this is lovely! I haven't had such good hollandaise in a while!"

"It's a nice taste, really silky and rich," replied Apple as Megumin took a big bite and nodded.

"I think we should get some to go, and drop it off at Twilight's place."

[onaroll]

There's a pause before Amelie replies.

"I could also...make a copy and drop it off for her? Is that something I should do?"

She's actually a little hesitant at mentioning this; copying restaurant food makes her feel uneasy, but she's never been able to pinpoint why.

On the other hoof, Twilight is letting them use her giant crystal castle for their wedding and is also going to be the one performing the ceremony, so if Apple gives the okay she will go ahead with it.

[cidery]

"No, don't make a copy of it," said Apple with a smile. "I've got the bits to pay for another one. It'll be our treat."

"Think of it as a payment for you two getting married in the castle," said Megumin as she poked her eggs once more with a fork. "Equal measure and all that."

[onaroll]

"...okay."

Amelie is looking down at her eggs as well, but she can't quite hide the shy, relieved smile growing on her face.

The pair shared a smile as Apple wraps a foreleg around Amelie with a little smile. "Eat up, your food is getting cold."

[onaroll]

Okay! BACK TO BRUNCH. With a light tap, Amelie breaks open the yolk on her poached egg and lets it flow out to mix into the creamed spinach. Scooping some up - and making sure to get some of the hollandaise sauce as well - she closes her eyes as the flavor spreads through her mouth, visibly relaxing.

Once she's swallowed, she nibbles at one of the melon balls in her salad, and then washes it down with a sip of her mimosa.

"You know, it took me an entire month to get hoops to all these places?"

"I imagine so," said Megumin. "Considering you had to take the train for all of it too."

"I helped," said Apple. "There's a lot of places out of the way, so we journeyed together. But most of it is Amelie's surprise for us."

The food was so good, Megumin nodded as she chewed. "It's further out than I've been too."

[onaroll]

"In Waverly Bay we had a giant possibly-sapient lying rock making us want to stay in the town, so when we got here it was like two years worth of wanderlust hit me all at once."

Amelie moves the egg to the side slightly in order to expose the artichoke underneath it, cutting off a few leaves and chewing them with every evidence of enjoyment before continuing.

Also, Amelie, it has been over two years, please stop holding a grudge at the heart for the testdrive meme thread.

"That makes sense. I journeyed from my hometown to the beginning town when I graduated, so I can agree with some wanderlust."

She grinned. "It can't be all bad, since it gave you Apple."

[onaroll]

Amelie blushes again

"There is that, oui..."

Apple giggled at that, and nuzzled Amelie quickly before returning to her food. It would be rude to makeout in a nice restaurant.

[onaroll]

At this point, conversation can wait for the end of the meal.

Amelie does remember to signal the waiter over and ask for Twilight's share, though.

Putting her fork down, Megumin sighed deeply. "That... was good," she proclaimed. "It was some of the most delicious food in the world."

[onaroll]

"We haven't even hit the halfway point yet."

Amelie's clearly amused by Megumin's proclamation.

[cidery]

"She's right you know. Pace yourself a little more Megumin," said Apple, making Megumin blush.

"I'll be able to eat all you'll see!" Exclaimed Megumin.

[onaroll]

It doesn’t take long to sort out the payment, and they’re soon outside Honey Dazzler’s with a takeout container. Amelie turns to the other two and speaks a few words.

“This is going to look really weird, but bear with me, alright?”

With that, a hoop forms around her neck and her head disappears. As her body stands there, it adjusts itself slightly, sitting down and trying to get comfortable.

Naturally, ponies are staring. So many ponies are staring.

Megumin is staring.

"How?" asked Megumin.

"It's like Amelie's party trick," giggled Apple.

[onaroll]

Amelie’s head reappears, the hoop around her neck vanishing as it does.

“I can directly form my hoops on living bodies. When I do that, they’re still in one piece, they’re just no longer continuous.”

With that, she opens up another hoop large enough to walk through and steps inside. On the other side, naturally, is Twilight’s crystal palace. She takes a moment to knock on the door with one hoof.

The door opens moments later, as Twilight appears. "Oh hello Amelie, I thought you were..." She looks over at the hoop and waves. "I see, you're taking a short visit then?"

[onaroll]

Nod nod.

"We were having brunch in Neigh Orleans and Megumin thought you would like this."

There's a pause as she holds up both takeout boxes.

"It's Eggs Sardou from Honey Dazzler's - a poached egg on an artichoke half with creamed spinach and hollandaise sauce. There's one for you and one for Starlight; I hope you enjoy them!"
